Economic Policy Collapse Nears
The people who have been given control of our economic leadership, politicians or their appointees, have been making some really awful decisions. You can almost feel the wheels coming off the engine now.

The latest dagger was thrown by the Atlanta Federal Reserve earlier this month when it managed to finagle a .1% uptick in the first quarter statistics. As weak as that report was it was a huge improvement over the initial result from data used which showed a flat-lined patient the day before. But the first deluge of daggers came when the Fed began dropping interest rates in order to thwart the progress of the recession.

Think of it this way. The economy has cycles, the clothes washer has cycles. The clothes washer objective is to produce clean clothes at the end of the various cycles. Those cycles include wash, rinse, rinse again, and spin dry.

The economy works the same way. When you have an economy overloaded by regulation, stifled by worn-out company executives who cling to past successes and are unable to make changes either way, you need all the cycles to work in order to have fresh economic progress every day. You can't short-circuit anything or you wind up with the same dirty mess that you started with. Our leadership didn't let the economic cycle do its cleaning job.

But America was not alone in this lack of progress on the economic front. The countries who were acknowledged as world leaders for more than a century are in the same mess, and it stems from a socialistic mindset that government is there to mitigate all of society's ills.

All these countries have one thing in common, they elect as leaders people who promise more, more, MORE! Without strong private sectors, without individual initiatives that can be allowed to tinker--and either succeed or fail on their own merits--governments soon become hamstrung by their impossible promises.

Take a hard, unbiased look around the globe at various national or regional economies. How many are flourishing? Without massive loans from central bank printing presses, how many would still be standing?

Even in China there is an illusion of strength that is no longer sustainable. The Chinese built cities which were never occupied, now they are sustaining the economy by tearing those cities down and counting it as economic progress. It is make-work--much like Hitler did with Germany after the Weimar Republic printed itself into oblivion in order to pay off World War I debt.

The result in China is they are claiming a 2015 first quarter economic increase of 7%. While compared to the rest of the world that is impressive, the fact the figures cannot be verified independently is worrisome. The acknowledged reality that China can no longer feed itself is deadly. But the mere fact the Chinese government gave its worst report in six years on economic growth has to be a Code Red alarm. Its culture's nature is that it must maintain face. The Chinese leadership knows the rest of the world is slowing so it can lower its figures as well, and sooth itself that it stands alone in 'progress.'

To get to the bedrock of the American economy problem, it is startling when opponents agree. Marc Faber, publisher of Gloom, Boom and Doom, and former Fed Chairman Paul Volcker, who wrote many of the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Act's most controversial provisions, both see economic disaster coming.

Faber points the finger directly at central bankers and its bad thinking. "There is a big bubble in debt, in financial assets. But the biggest bubble is the belief central bankers know what to do. They have no clue. The very actions [of the Federal Reserve], the monetary policies as conducted, have created a lot of unaffordability in the system."

Volcker disagrees. While admitting some of his provisions enacted by Dodd-Frank have not had the desired effect, he insists it is because those provisions have not been "fully applied."

He claims, "The regulatory structure that failed us in anticipating and responding to the emergency is still largely in place. Progress has been made, here and internationally in shoring up banking regulations but, basically, the institutional structure for financial regulation has resisted efforts for meaningful reform."

Financial regulations began in the Great Depression era. They were implemented to short-circuit economic crises. They didn't work then (it was the onset of WWII, not the regulations, that ended the Depression) and they won't work now. Free capitalism, where the few envision and produce something the populace wants and can afford, is the only way to end this 80-year battle against economic recession.

And that is not a cure-all either. Throughout history, economic cycles have been the norm. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can stop those cycles and still leave you with clean clothes or a clean, strong economy at the end.

It comes down to the fact regulation is like putting new paint on a failing wall. The wall looks better but nothing has been done to make the wall stand longer.

Governments coveted the power some private companies had built without troubling to build anything themselves. They stifled the companies with regulations and got recession. So they implemented legislation to stop recessions and have a looming disaster.

The leadership of both parts never understood they can't prevent economic cycles from happening if they are to finish with a healthy economy that has really progressed from where it started to recede before. The result today is the emperor (Wall Street) is clothed. The problem is the rags are filthy (devalued fiat).

GREECE AND DAVID WILKERSON :And we're going into six months of the worst hell America has ever seen---there's going to be chaos---not even the National Guard's going to be able to quiet it down ,we're going to have to call out the whole U.S. Army.  - David Wilkerson, excerpt 1994 sermon

It's about to happen---very soon, one nation, and I'm speaking prophetically--if I've ever heard anything from God in my life, I heard it. Very soon a European or North African or Eastern nation is going to default on its international loan and when that happens, within two weeks, Mexico is going to default. Mexico owes $100 billion ---80% of it to American banks---and here's what is going to happen: about two weeks after the first country goes bankrupt, (we're going to survive that, because most of that (money of the first country) is owed to European banks---German, Swiss and French banks) but a second country is going to go down, probably Argentina or Brazil, and we'll kind of live that down and say: "Well, maybe it's not going to hurt," but two weeks after the first country goes down, Mexico's going to default on $100 billion.

And when the banks open the next day at 9 in the morning, $15 billion an hour is going to be withdrawn from our American banks -they're going to be running our banks---the Arabs---all the Latin American countries, they're going to be running our banks--and before the day is over, the USA is going to have to declare a "bank holiday."

And we're going into six months of the worst hell America has ever seen---there's going to be chaos---not even the National Guard's going to be able to quiet it down---we're going to have to call out the whole U.S. Army.

Prophetic word recorded at Unleavened Bread Ministries.

Ominous Clouds Darken Path
Storm clouds continue to build over the economy, but astute observers must wonder how long the massaged numbers will hold up. Under scrutiny even the most benign numbers show economic weakness.

Today we'll look at the unemployment, housing market and first quarter earnings reports to see where America is headed after three months in 2015.

First time jobless benefit claims rose for a third straight week Thursday yet the news had a qualifying rider attached to it: "The underlying trend continued to point to solid improvement in the labor market."

Is this because so many people have gotten discouraged and left the workforce or is it because of some actual shift in the winds of fortune? The report doesn't specify but happily reports claims of 295,000 are good news because that makes seven straight weeks the report has been under 300,000. (When I did a comparative unemployment study as part of a statistics class study in 1970 the unemployment number was considered poor when it reached 120,000. Now the fact it is not 250% more than that is cause for celebration.)

But what is of concern is the jobs report blithely ignores the workforce dropouts and instead claims the lower moving average rate between March and April indicates "accelerated job growth." If so, in what sector(s) did jobs actually increase? Not construction or manufacturing--two cornerstones of long-term economic health.

Construction was devastated on the report new home sales plunged 11.4% to a mere 481,000 sales annually. The Commerce Department report cheerfully highlights February home prices hit the highest level in seven years. With wages essentially flat, the drop in new home sales could be because the price is now out of the reach of most working people. Still Commerce remains upbeat about the housing outlook because "moves by the government to ease credit conditions for first-time buyers."  Can you say "housing bubble" so soon after 2007?

With new home sales languishing below half a million more than seven years after the bubble popped the first time, how can that be positive news? There is no solid, sustained increases in new home sales. Once again the GDP-increasing industry that went away in the recession has not returned to even half of its pre-recession level yet is counted as a positive.

Finally look at the earnings report from Wall Street.

The report starts out very positive: "Most U.S. companies (71%) so far this earnings season have managed to beat Wall Street profit forecasts despite weak sales."

But what were those "expectations?" How did they compare to pre-Recession forecasts? Those two questions are key.

W-e-l-l, those expectations aren't anywhere close to what they were in the first quarter of 2007. Indeed, in many cases the 2015 expectations as forecast by analysts were less than 10% of what those same companies were expected to do in the first quarter of '07.

But the sorry numbers don't stop there. Most of the 71% that reportedly "beat expectations" did so through accounting tricks involving share buybacks and cost-cutting measures (usually lower payrolls numbers) rather than relying on healthy sales growth. So again any interpretation of the data has to factor in those parameters or they are not giving you a fair analysis.

To their credit, most analysts did note the discrepancy somewhere in their reports but you could really see the discouragement in the new forecast numbers for the second and third quarters. Analysts are collectively trimming both profit and sales expectations for the second quarter right now.

Dan Suzuki, senior U.S. equity strategist for BOA-Merrill Lynch, said, "The fact some companies beat the bottom line is not going to change the story. You are going to see some pretty ugly numbers over the next couple of quarters."

How bad is it? First quarter earnings are expected to collectively be down 1.5% from 2014. Sales are expected to be 3.3% down year-over-year. Forty-four percent of the early reports for 1st quarter revenues show only 11 in 25 companies topped the lowered expectation level for revenues. Of those who topped revenues, less than half hit their expected sales targets. Even more troubling this trend affected almost every sector.

The Street is quick to point a finger at the strong dollar and the weak energy prices for the failed expectations. But if gasoline prices are down, sales in other sectors--like restaurant or entertainment areas--should have seen a rise. They didn't. Also, a year ago analysts blamed extreme weather for first quarter sag, this time extreme weather was definitely less of a factor.

The first quarter reports are showing a slowing economic engine. An engine that is definitely in idle mode. Is it preparing to once again go into reverse? Worse, is it preparing to turn off completely meaning the train sits, unable to move in any direction?

Storm clouds are distinctly forming. Whether or not the storm becomes economically destructive is not as important as it once was because we no longer have a solid foundation to withstand any kind of a blast so the tent we are stuck in will suffer damage.

Washington euphemistically called these developments "headwinds." Any more such headwinds and the engine will get blown clean off the track.

The Rant - Economy Loaded With Red Flags // Listen the one who does the Rant -- 04/16/15 - In Defense Of A Nation -- God or Globalism?

Economy Loaded With Red Flags
Despite governmental claims about the positive state of the recovery, evidence keeps piling up on the opposite side. The latest economic numbers are not only ugly but when put in context of the picture we had in 2006, they are downright frightening.

In the first two months of the 2015, the economic activity averaged only $15.67 trillion annually with both months coming in just over $1.31 trillion each. In 2006 America hit its highwater mark at $16.3 trillion. So, in pure numbers alone, we are still $600 billion short, just under 4% behind, where we were nine years past and far below the $24 trillion threshold the CBO claims we hit last year when it claimed the acknowledged national debt was only 79% of the economy.

That would be a setback in anybody's ledger but it gets worse when you project it against the estimated population of America in 2006 against the estimated population for 2015 as compiled by the Census Bureau. In 2006 it estimated the number of Americans at 292 million. We are now approaching the 322 million mark.

This means for every dollar of economic activity each consumer had in 2006, there was only 81 cents worth so far in 2015. This does not figure in inflation but is merely in raw numbers.

Against this backdrop the analysis released Wednesday by former White House budget director David Stockman, is not surprising. Stockman showed why business inventories are backing up quite rapidly and are an omen of a 'violent liquidation process' coming up--much like the one that caused the recession n the housing market.

Stockman asserted investors should not be taken in by March retail figures that showed positive momentum. "We spent four years digging out of the hole after the recession officially ended [June 2009]," wrote Stockman. "It might look like progress if you ignore where you started."

What really alarmed Stockman was the fact total business sales (manufacturing, wholesale and retail) continues to falter even as inventories expand.

"Business sales of $1.313 trillion in February were essentially flat with January, meaning the first quarter through two months is down 2% from the fourth quarter of 2014 and down 3% from the six month figure for 2014," he noted.

Combine Stockman's analysis with a St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank report on the state of the average American consumer last Sunday and the picture grows even grimmer. "Families that are neither rich nor poor, may be under more downward economic pressure than common but simplistic rank-based measures of income or wealth would suggest."

The study demonstrates real income for average Americans has not matched that of their parents yet, even with additional education. If the education of the younger generation did not match their parents' than they were much worse off.

The problem is because recessions are part of a natural economic cycle to eliminate dead wood in any economy. Government intervention halted much of that impetus and the actions of the current Administration in promoting more costly alternative fuel, which has emphatically wasted trillions of dollars while adding sharply-rising prices to many everyday goods, have not helped.

The government actions supported the financial sector, the auto industry and many green technologies which would otherwise have failed miserably on their own. That would have been rough. But we would be starting over with a clean slate in the economy by now. Instead we are still mired in a thick mud and the 'experts' cannot fathom why.

Obama Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers is one of those befuddled.

"The greater risks are on the side of an slowdown and stagnation, rather than on the side of overheating and inflation," claimed the Harvard prof in an interview with CNBC Monday. But he was putting all his eggs in the basket where the initial consumer expenditure report showed a whopping .3% increase, year-over-year, in February. That small an increase in a year, spread over a larger population base, doesn't feed the cat.

Summers used this single item to show the economy still has a ways to go before it can hit the 2% annual growth target of the Fed. But he is, like most economists, missing the boat because he continues to equate economic activity in terms of dollars only. Look at the units sold of each item.

The slowdown there is noticeable and devastating to the claims of a recovery. If unit sales across the board were picking up, then we would be on the recovery road in earnest.

But the building inventory stockpiles negate even the .3% gain Summers points to in his interview. The .3% gain is only because the Fed printed so many devalued dollars and shoved them into the financial arena. The extra 3.7 trillion in fiat is hanging over America's jugular like a Domacles sword.

The economy is not picking up steam except by comparisons of a dollar that is worth less than 18 percent of what it was before the recession hit. This may delay the lifting of interest rates until September.

But even that will not make a difference until the Washington structure pulls back and lets the economy go where it wants.

There's a lot of dead wood to be cleaned out of the system--and not all of it is economic. There is political dead wood as well.

"I have sworn on the altar of God eternal hostility to every form of tyranny over the mind of man."--Thomas Jefferson

The Global Liquidity Squeeze Has Begun
Squeeze Globe - Public Domainhttp://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/
Get ready for another major worldwide credit crunch.  Today, the entire global financial system resembles a colossal spiral of debt.  Just about all economic activity involves the flow of credit in some way, and so the only way to have “economic growth” is to introduce even more debt into the system.  When the system started to fail back in 2008, global authorities responded by pumping this debt spiral back up and getting it to spin even faster than ever.  If you can believe it, the total amount of global debt has risen by $35 trillion since the last crisis.  Unfortunately, any system based on debt is going to break down eventually, and there are signs that it is starting to happen once again.  For example, just a few days ago the IMF warned regulators to prepare for a global “liquidity shock“.  And on Friday, Chinese authorities announced a ban on certain types of financing for margin trades on over-the-counter stocks, and we learned that preparations are being made behind the scenes in Europe for a Greek debt default and a Greek exit from the eurozone.  On top of everything else, we just witnessed the biggest spike in credit application rejections ever recorded in the United States.  All of these are signs that credit conditions are tightening, and once a “liquidity squeeze” begins, it can create a lot of fear. San Antonio Woman Fined $2000 For Feeding The Homeless Zero Hedge - ...the completely innocuous act of feeding the homeless, with a permit, which as San Antonio philanthropist Joan Cheever, founder of the nonprofit food truck, the Chow Train, discovered last week was enough to get her ticketed and fined $2000 for feeding the homeless. ...for the past 10 years, Cheever has devoted her Tuesday nights to providing hot, restaurant-quality meals to homeless people in the downtown area. SAPD officers would routinely pass by and wave. Often, she jokingly asked if they planned to arrest her, and they laughed. She was profiled on Rachel Ray's cooking show for her charitable efforts. But everything changed last Tuesday when he got a citation which carries a fine up to $2000 issued by four San Antonio Police Department bike-patrol officers.

Shakedown of Unvaccinated Students Begins in Spokane, Washington Natural Blaze - Spokane public schools in Washington state began to audit the vaccine records of students this week to identify those who are not in compliance with the recommended required vaccine schedule. Once identified, the students will be detained along with their parents to be re-educated about vaccines, as well as to receive free jabs to get in compliance with vaccine schedules. Presumably, parents will also be provided with the proper waivers to opt out of this medical fascism, but most of those will have to jump through more hoops like getting a 'health care professional' to sign the waiver.
