Swedish Analyst Calls For 'Nordic Union'

Swedish historian and analyst Gunnar Wetterberg has suggested that the Nordic states should create their own European Union-style agreement in case the EU itself fails. The Local reports that Wtterberg wrote the opinion article in the Dagens Nyheter (DN) daily. "A united Nordic state would be far stronger in the face of the outside world than the five countries individually, while an increasingly common domestic market would provide significantly better growth than today," Wetterberg wrote. Disappointed Democrats protest Obama's SF visit

In a powerful display of profound disappointment with President Obama, some of the Democratic Party's biggest donors gathered Tuesday - not inside his tony San Francisco fundraiser at the W Hotel, but outside on the sidewalks carrying signs in protest of his policies. "I don't even know what he stands for," said Susie Tompkins Buell, a co-founder of the Esprit clothing company and one of the most generous Democratic Party donors in the nation - instrumental in backing such powerhouse progressive organizations as the

A Russian training ship spotted the junk — including a refrigerator, a television set and other appliances — in an area of the Pacific Ocean where the scientists from the university's International Pacific Research Center predicted it would be. The biggest proof that the debris is from the Japanese tsunami is a fishing boat that's been traced to the Fukushima Prefecture, the area

Is she about to blow? Scientists investigate riddle of rapidly inflating volcano

A previously dormant South American volcano is inflating with astonishing speed, scientists have discovered. Researchers from several U.S. universities say Uturuncu, which rises 6,000 meters in southwest Bolivia, is blowing up like a big balloon as its magma chamber grows around 10 times faster than normal. 'It's one of...
