There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time, however there are events occurring in the world theatre which require closer monitoring.

The United States has begun to deploy troops to the Middle East under cover of a joint drill with Israel under the code name Austere Challenge. These troops are being staged for engagement with Iran, especially should the engagement flair up to a regional conflict. Iran has scheduled another military exercise at the same time this drill is to take place, increasing the possibility of accidental conflict. Iran has also announced that it will attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz should any action be taken against its oil exports. Britain is moving its most advanced warship to the area in the event of hostilities.

Crossing another line, Iran has begun enriching uranium at its Fordo facility. Experts have stated that Fordo is well protected and immune from air assault, giving Iran the ability to produce enriched uranium unhindered.

Although Russia has stationed an aircraft carrier off of Syria, there does not appear to be any overt strategic or tactical manoeuvering by Russia in the Iranian theatre.

The DEFCON Warning System is a private enterprise which monitors world events and assesses nuclear threats against the United States by national entities. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning.
