The number of American “patriot” extremist groups has reached a record level, according to a new study, and experts are warning of a wave of anti-government violence. A report released Tuesday by the Southern Poverty Law Centercounted 1,360 “patriot” extremist groups in 2012 — up by 7% from 2011. The study defines patriot groups as anti-government militias driven by their fear that authorities will strip them of their guns and liberties.

Traditional values groups are getting set for a battle in the Pennsylvania Legislature over bills that would grant special rights to homosexuals. While Democrats, supported by a few Republicans, are backing the bills, Diane Gramley of the American Family Association of Pennsylvania (AFA of PA) cites the research on the topic. In April 2011, a pro-homosexual group released a report showing that 4 percent of the U.S. population identifies as lesbian, “gay,” bisexual or transgender (LGBT), with only four million (or 1.7 percent) identifying as gay. Now, the same think tank, upon reviewing Gallup Polling data, has reported that 3.5 percent of the U.S. population identifies as LGBT. Pennsylvania is below the national average.
