However the rainbow was the sign of G...od's covenant with Noah, that God would withhold the rain from destroying the earth. Not only has the nation broken the marriage covenant but now the "people of Sodom" have used a heavenly covenant symbol that God reserved as a sign for protection from the elements (see Gen.8).
