EU Unity Shattered By Refugee Flood
We have many people, not the least of them the President, who want to open ours doors in welcome to the Arab refugees. Their chief argument usually follows the trend: Why should Europe open its doors and America keep its door closed?
Don't look but Europe's door has been closed.
The continent may have tried an open door policy while implementing the switch to a universal currency (the euro) but a million refugees have managed to lock the door more than any other squabble.
In summation, national borders erased by the formation of the Euro Union have re-emerged not only on the map but in reality.
When the Union was established, the dream was that a person could travel the Continent in the same manner an American can go from California to New York. For more than 15 years this ideal held sway. Then the refugee flood started. Put against the backdrop of the mass killings and the uncertainty of national status and political sympathies, the various national governments are taking a stand of self-preservation.
Sweden, long a bastion of socialistic tendencies, has abruptly closed its open border policy and re-ignited the passport/visa checkpoints. The Swedish action follows similar border checks restarted in Germany, Austria, France and Belgium. To be blunt, the 26-nation state with passport-free travel within, has collapsed.
This is an important step because the U.S. Administration appears to be blind to the problems behind the concept. Europeans now know the refugees bring two things they can't handle--terrorism and demands on infrastructure. Sweden, for instance, was the recipient of more than 160,000 refugees in 2015.
But the swelling flood of refugees has undermined the very fabric of the Euro Union. The one-for-all attitude has been replaced by one of "every man for himself."
Mark Rhinard of the Swedish Institute of International Affairs said, "It's basically every country for itself now." So the countries inside the EU are disregarding the rules that kept the borders open--even to each other.
While the physical boundaries are being rebuilt, the main question in the EU seems to be centered on whether or not the mental barriers between countries must be rebuilt. This problem should alarm Americans.
Suppose the Administration does succeed in opening American doors to the flood of refugees. We are better able to handle them than the EU simply because our resources are much better but if the open-door policy leads to more violence--such as has been seen with the open border with Mexico or a crashing of infrastructure as has been witnessed in California, what does that mean for the future of the country?
Will Oregon, for example, simply close open travel across the state line to other states? What about a state already reeling from the Administration global warming policies like West Virginia or Wyoming? How will those states react if their limited state budgets are suddenly strained even more in order to pay for migrants instead of the citizenry?
Wealth destruction has been a by-product of every single action this Administration has taken. Wealth preservation comes a long way behind meeting the goals of the agenda this Administration set out. But without wealth, as witnessed in Europe, the refugees are a burden that cannot be borne.
What is very revealing is the biggest economic nuggets in the EU--France and Germany--were the first ones to put the borders back in place.
One of the items the EU tried to copy about America was the open border concept. Germany and Sweden were two of the top promoters of welcoming refugees when the crisis started. Oddly, Hungary was the first to build a physical fence to deter refugees. Now the two bastions of socialism are following suit.
Whatever happens in the EU could be used by our government to help America avoid the same problem in the future. Unfortunately, the insistence by the leadership to see the world as it wishes it to be rather than how it actually is continues apace.
By November it may be too late to correct the damage this blindfolded view of the world promises to inflict on this country's base values and morals by the ballot box alone.
Europe's "turning back the clock" is an open acknowledgement of a failed policy, when will America do its own clock turning?

The first trading day of 2016 was full of chaos and panic. It started in Asia where the Nikkei was down 582 points, Hong Kong was down 587 points, and Chinese markets experienced an emergency shutdown after the CSI 300 tumbled 7 percent. When European markets opened, the nightmare continued. The DAX was down 459 points, and European stocks overall had their worst start to a year ever. In the U.S., it looked like we were on course for a truly historic day as well. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 467 points at one stage, but some very mysterious late day buying activity helped trim the loss to just 276 points at the close of the market. The sudden market turmoil caught many by surprise, but it shouldn’t have. The truth is that a whole host of leading indicators have been telling us that this is exactly what should be happening. Doctors Can Report Some Mentally Ill Patients To FBI Under New Gun Control Rule
Politico - Delivering on its promise to deliver “common sense” gun control, the Obama administration on Monday finalized a rule that enables health care providers to report the names of mentally ill patients to an FBI firearms background check system. The action was one of a series of steps that President Barack Obama had called for in January 2013 in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., shootings to curb gun violence, but the rule was not published until today. While the 1993 Brady law prohibits gun ownership by individuals who have been involuntarily committed, found incompetent to stand trial or otherwise deemed by a court to be a danger to themselves or others, federal health care privacy rules prohibited doctors and other providers from sharing information without the consent of their patients. Under the rule, which takes effect next month, for the first time health providers can disclose the information to the background check system without legal repercussions.

CNN Declares Oregon Occupiers Domestic Terrorists Kurt Nimmo - Juliette Kayyem, billed as a CNN National Security Analyst, has defined Ammon Bundy and the other people occupying the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge as domestic terrorists. “Let’s begin with what to call the Oregon anti-government protesters who have taken over a federal building. The men, heavily armed, urging others to come support their cause, and claiming somehow that, while peaceful, they will ‘defend’ themselves whatever it takes, are—by any definition—domestic terrorists.” By any definition? Here is the dictionary definition of terrorism: The use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes. Bundy and his compatriots have so far not threatened violence against the government. They have said, however, if the government uses violence they will respond in kind. Is trespassing terrorism? The Inside Story of Occupy Malheur
Last night, the mainstream media was filled with stories about the “armed takeover” of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge by people who have been termed anti-federalist or anti-government militias. The truth is there is nothing that dramatic going on. I was at the Malheur Headquarters yesterday and was able to walk around freely. There were lots of media trucks and crews and even one government guy – Fish & Wildlife. The environment couldn’t have been more relaxed but there were some serious conversations going on between different clusters of people.
What Really Happened?
TVOI News owner/cameraman Michael Emry has been on scene in Burns, Oregon since the day before the rally was scheduled. He came with a group of other Idahoans who intended to provide an expression of concern for the Hammonds and support for the Harney County Committee of Safety. Today I was finally able to talk to Michael to find out what really happened here.The rally went on as scheduled and it was a huge success. Everyone was delighted by the turn out and the mood. But what happened at the termination of the march, was that Ammon Bundy announced that they were taking a hard line and that a separate group was already at Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. They intended to occupy the Headquarters until the federal government returns the Refuge land to Harney County for productive use.
Harney County is a resource rich area but the agencies of the federal government over the years have used their bully authority to force ranchers, lumberers and farmers out of business at which point the feds take over the land and lock it up in the Refuge. This takes the property off the tax rolls and out of productive use.
The Hammond Case follows this well established pattern of abuse. The BLM used false and scurrilous charges of eco-terrorism to put Dwight and his son in prison which obviously puts them out of the ranching business. The Feds forced them to sign a Right of First Refusal as a condition of their probation after they were released from prison having served the time that the original judge gave them. A Right of First Refusal means that the Hammonds must allow the BLM to buy the property first before it is offered to any other potential buyers.
At the time the Hammonds were released from prison, they were on their knees but would have been able to continue their ranching business so the BLM through the U.S. Attorneys office went after them again – appealing their sentence to the Ninth Circuit Court. The liberal Ninth Circuit overturned the original judge’s sentence for the Hammonds and he applied the mandatory minimum under the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996. That was the coup de grace for the Hammonds. They went back to prison and their land will go to the BLM to be locked up in the Refuge.
According to Ammon Bundy who has done extensive research both on western land issues and the Hammond Case, as late as the 1980’s, Harney County was one of the wealthiest counties in the state and now it is one of the poorest and it’s due to federal acquisition of western lands.
Dwight and Stephen are not arsonists bent on destruction. They were ranchers trying to run their ranching business. The BLM viciously pursued the Hammonds on charges that the county prosecutor wouldn’t prosecute because there wasn’t any evidence that they did anything wrong. The fire in 2001 which was to burn off dead grass went a little farther than intended. It happens all the time both to the ranchers and to the BLM when they do controlled burns. The 2005 fire was a back burn fire. There was a fire on BLM land that was started by lightening. That fire was out of control and was coming towards the Hammonds home and buildings. The Hammonds lit a back fire which did exactly what it was intended to do. It burned toward the wild fire and when the two fires met, the fire went out because there was no more fuel (unburned grass). It put the wild fire out and it saved the Hammonds buildings. And for those two events, the Hammonds were convicted of eco-terrorism.
Rally for Support of the Hammonds
On the day of the rally, the plan had been to meet after the rally at the Harney County Fair Grounds to discuss how to proceed with the Committee of Safety and the failure of the Harney County officials to respond to the Redress of Grievance. On the table for discussion was the possibility of creating a Citizens Grand Jury and possibly an enforcement arm for the Committee. But when Ammon made his announcement that they were already occupying the Malheur Headquarters, confusion reigned. He was asking supporters to move from a peaceful and legal demonstration to an unlawful occupation of a federal building with plans to hold that building until the Feds agreed to return the Refuge land to the control of Harney County and for the Feds to GET OUT of Harney County and leave the people to live in peace as they had in the past.True to form, the mainstream media – rather than digging to find the truth of the Occupy Malheur story, chose as they always do to demonize conservatives who having had their fill of government abuse, finally act out to call attention to it. The media does bleeding heart stories 24/7 for urban protestors who act out against government abuse, but God help anybody from a productive sector who complains about the government putting them out of business.
At this point, it’s not known how this story will end. It’s really up to the Ranchers of Harney County. As one Rancher who was at the headquarters said today, we’ve all been complaining about BLM, Forest Service and the Bureau of Reclamation for years. Now that the world is watching the question is – will those Ranchers finally take a stand and speak out or will they allow the opportunity to pass that Ammon Bundy and the other men at the Malheur Headquarters put their lives on the line to provide to them. If they allow this opportunity to pass, they will be picked off one by one as their former fellow ranchers have been leaving the western way of life to die a painful and disgraceful death for the lack of courage to stand up for themselves.

Many Coloradans may, at first, mistakenly believe that the state's mandatory transfer background check will exempt them from the president's actions. From my read, that is not correct.
Colorado does not consider you a commercial firearms dealer if you sell two guns. State law mandates that a private citizen conduct a background transfer check through an FFL. However, the proposed executive action from the president also holds over your head that if his agents decide that your selling of 2 firearms in a year makes you a commerical firearms dealer and you conduct those sales without an FFL, you are subject to 5 years in a federal prison and up to $250,000 in fines!
I think it's reasonable to conclude that this proposed action will have the net effect of coercing millions of everyday gun owners into applying for FFLs, which they puts them under very strict scrutiny of the federal government- requiring tedious reporting.
The major gun control advocacy groups have a long range goal of registering every single firearm in the country. (in their lingo, that's "sensible gun safety regulations".)
The president's proposed executive actions are simply another step down the path towards that goal. Not a huge step, but a small step they hope will go unnoticed.
The American citizenry would be foolish to stand by and quietly allow that to happen. Not only must we defend the Bill of Rights, but we must also defend the orginal articles of the Constitutions (Articles 1, 2 and 3 come to mind.)
When we lived in Estes Park a few years ago, our home was just down the street from the intersection of Lexington and Concord. For some reason, I feel closer to Lexington and Concord than even before.

Keep Women and Children Out of There Oath Keepers has received very credible information from an active duty source within the special operations community that at least one SOD-X (Reserve/National Guard Special Operations Detachment, see this, this, and this) unit under the command of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) has been tasked for this standoff at the Malheur Wildlife Reserve and moved to the area. That source contacted one of our long-time members who is a retired Special Forces 1st Sgt (who has known the source for over twenty years). Now, of course, just because such a unit has been sent to the area for possible action does not mean it will be used. It may not (so please don’t accuse us of making that claim). But we DO NOT trust the Obama Administration to do this right, which would be to handle this situation like the Montana Freeman standoff rather than like the Waco standoff. Anyone who thinks that Obama wouldn’t dare drop the hammer on Ammon and his men (whether by using a military commando unit, or the infamous FBI HRT, which was present at both Ruby Ridge and Waco), is a fool. As was reported in the Washington Times after the Bundy Ranch standoff ended, the Obama Administration did consider the use of military force during that standoff. Fortunately, they decided against it, but that doesn’t mean cooler heads will prevail this time around. And once again, leftists are frothing at the mouth and demanding blood. For example, Montel Williams says he is “Totally fine with a massive use of deadly force in Oregon to take out Ammon Bundy” and also said “I’m calling on Govt to end terrorist siege perpetrated by a bunch of hillbilly American Taliban.” The U.S. government has used military rules of engagement and overwhelming force twice in recent history, with horrific results, and we don’t put anything past this Administration. At Ruby Ridge, the result was a dead fifteen year old boy, shot in the back by U.S. Marshalls, and a dead mother (shot in the face by an FBI HRT sniper while holding her baby). At Waco the result was scores of dead women and children, during a military assault using armored vehicles (with Delta Force present and involved, and with local fire-fighters intentionally kept away while the Dividians burned). So please don’t try to say we are crazy for thinking it may be done again here. We do hope “the adults in the room” in the Administration and in the federal LEO and military community will keep that from happening, but hope is not an operational plan. We don’t trust them, and you shouldn’t either, so: Keep women and children off the friggin X. Why do we feel the need to say this? Because we have seen news footage showing children present at the Malheur Wildlife Reserve over the past few days. Apparently they were brought there by their parents while they visited with Ammon and crew. We are told that they are not staying there overnight, but even bringing them for a visit is a mistake. We also know that several women are staying there 24/7 (apparently including the wife of Blaine Cooper). We do not need to have the risk of dead women and children in this incident. It is unconscionable and immoral for anyone to place non-combatant women and children at risk of being in the middle of a firefight or dynamic raid on the armed men occupying that federal wildlife refuge. This is not a “free speech” barbecue at Bundy Ranch with live music by Jordan Page. This is a whole different animal. There should be no women and children there at all. This is not a family event. This is an armed occupation of a government building and the only people staying there should be the armed men who are willing to die there with Ammon Bundy and his brothers and a couple of embedded reporters. If adults want to visit them and put themselves at risk, that is their choice, but don’t bring children. If a dozen men die in a shootout, that is one thing, but if children die, there will be a civil war. Oath Keepers NOTE: We are already getting flack for even saying this, with people accusing us of spreading “false intel” or rumors, and of course, wild-eyed accusations of us somehow being “traitors” because we don’t want to see women and children put at risk. It is really a no-brainer that this Administration would at least stage both military and Federal law enforcement Special Response Teams for possible use in this situation. That is hardly an out-there conspiracy theory. And it should be a no-brainer and common sense to keep women and children clear of such an armed occupation of a federal facility, but apparently it is not, and so we felt duty bound to tell people to keep them away, and exactly why we think it necessary (I will ALWAYS put the safety of women and children first, no matter who it pisses off. I am not in this for a popularity contest). So, don’t shoot the messenger. In addition, last night Ammon Bundy himself let it be known that he had received information from three independent sources that a dynamic raid of some kind was possibly coming soon. So there! – Stewart Short Oath Keepers Statement on this Standoff I will post a longer statement later, but for now, here is a brief statement on this situation, in general: Oath Keepers opposes the armed occupation of the Malheur Wildlife Refuge for the reasons already stated here last Friday (I had a hunch Ammon was going to go beyond a peaceful march and protest). This is not in keeping with the moral imperative of only using the threat of force in defense when people’s lives are at stake, as at Bundy Ranch in 2014 (where we called on Oath Keepers from across the country to rush to the aid of the Bundy family and protect them from being “Waco’d” by military trained snipers and Special Forces veteran mercenaries). In this case, neither the Hammonds nor their neighbors were in imminent threat of being murdered, and neither the Hammonds nor their neighbors asked for any form of armed standoff (the Hammonds decided against taking a hard stand). In fact, they oppose it. This is being done by outsiders who mislead and deceived locals, deceived the Hammonds, and deceived the patriot movement by luring them in with a peaceful rally against the truly shocking abuses and injustices perpetrated on the Hammond family and then attempting to rope them into a premeditated, manufactured armed standoff. Both Ammon Bundy and Ryan Payne (who we suspect is an agent provocateur) told the locals in the Harney County Committee of Safety, at a public town hall meeting on December 15, that they, the locals on the committee, would be making the decisions on what was to be done, how, and when. But while they told the locals this, Ammon and Ryan had already planned out this takeover of the federal facility at the Malheur Wildlife Refuge and were already staging their men and supplies in the area to do it. All of this was done without even the knowledge, let alone consent, of that local Committee of Safety. By doing this, as Mike Vanderboegh pointed out, Ammon Bundy and Ryan Payne have given Obama the best New Years present he could hope for – an example of “militia movement/patriot aggression,” Obama can use to justify his already planned assault on gun rights (taking the focus off of the very real Jihadist terror threat, and allowing Obama to talk about a “right wing terror threat” instead), while Ammon also has the least credibility with, or support and participation from, the locals possible, since they were kept in the dark and blind-sided by this, and also with the least support from the patriot community, who were also blind-sided by Ammon and Ryan Payne. We support the Hammonds, who have indeed suffered terrible abuse that needs to be brought to light and corrected, and we support the return of western lands to their rightful owners, the people of the western states. But this armed occupation is bad strategically and tactically. There will be plenty of opportunities to take a hard stand in defense of ranchers who are taking a stand themselves, such as along the Red River in Texas. However, as much as we oppose what Ammon Bundy and Ryan Payne have done, we must warn the Obama Administration that it does not have free reign to “Waco” the people in this standoff by using deadly military force, such as an SOD-X, Delta Force, or the FBI HRT to kill them all. The Federal government must respect their right to due process and do all it can to end this standoff peacefully, without loss of life. It must treat it like the Freeman standoff, not the Waco standoff. There will be no more free Wacos, as Mike Vanderboegh, Founder of the Three Percenter movement puts it. We agree.
