One truism of the world is: Debt-ridden governments need inflation in order appear they can cover their debts.

Inflation is a wealth-robber at the best of times but when it is purely government-induced so the politicians can extend the road they keep kicking the can down, it turns deadly.

The Obama Administration would have you believe that this, the just-ended FY2014, is the best of the Obama years as debt dropped below the $1 trillion level. If you believe the Administration flacks, the national debt 'only' grew by $463 billion, give or take a $20 billion, this past year.

The first problem arises when you think about the beating the truth has taken from this Administration. All U.S. Administrations have had some deceit in them, it is the nature of the political beast to shine the best light possible on itself. But the Obama Administration has taken that "fudge factor" on the truth to a whole new level--like it has done most everything else.

Whether the scandal of the day is the IRS, Benghazi, the benefits of Obamacare, the Islamist terrorism attacks within this country generously labelled "workplace violence", the prisoner swap for an alleged deserter, the NSA spying, the--well the list is just too lengthy to get down. It is sufficient to note this Administration has mastered the art of stonewalling inquiries into problems.

Despite all the repeated exposed lies in numerous areas, the most egregious lie might very well be that whopper about the true size of the national debt this past year. The official debt has grown by more than $1.08 trillion during the time frame of Sept. 30, 2013 to Sept. 30 2014. But that only reflects the bills that have come due that have exceeded the revenues and some of the amount is from previous deficits that had to be paid.

Obama's apologists are sure to point that out because it interferes with their accounting which claims the rampant debt has slowed dramatically due to a vastly improved economy.

Inflation is the only reason the economy appears to be improving. Without inflation, the true decline in the economy would be very evident. To get a positive inflation growth has been the pet inside job of the Federal Reserve for six years now with its various programs.

Inflation is a wealth robber for everyone but the government. If government creates enough inflation, those nasty past-due bills, which are neatly covered in the la-la land of Treasury's bond sales upon which the official national debt is figured, would be seen for the millstone they really are. But with inflation, the fact is distorted.

So how is the government able to turn a real bummer of debt into a weak, new-born kitten style non-threat to the economy? Accounting sleight-of-hand. The government does something which only government does. It prints fiat to cover bills without actually showing that it has borrowed any money. In other words it uses the cash method when accounting for bills and an accrual basis for revenues.

This is why you really can't do an audit of the Federal Reserve. Their official balance sheets you must start with are phony. 

Unpaid bills do add to the deficit but the deficit is not official debt until all the bills from the previous fiscal period have been delayed as long as possible. When delay is impossible and the bill must be paid, then, and only then will the government put it down that it has added to the debt.

Can you see the difference between a deficit and a debt?

As long as the CBO, Treasury, GAO and the politicians themselves can hang a deficit label on something spent but have not yet had to pay for directly, it is a deficit, not a debt. It could be June of 2015 before all the deficits of FY2014 are actually run through system and wash out into the debt column. Six more months of deficits will have to be accounted for by then but those can be kicked further down the road. By classifying something as a deficit instead of a debt allows the government to show it is more financially-responsible than its predecessors.

The problem with inflation is it is a more terrifyingly implacable enemy--only enhanced by rising interest rates--than any other entity on this planet. The Fed desperately wants to be able to raise rates so it can show its' tactics have worked. It cannot. The economy is still too feeble and the deficits generated by mandatory social programs still too vital to too many citizens' continued economic survival.

We've already reached the time when the debt, bills paid with borrowed money, exceed the size of annual GDP. The only thing keeping the hoax alive is the government is also buying its own long-term debt through the Federal Reserve which is why it must delay turning a deficit into a debt as long as possible.

Don't Worry, Be Happy...at least until nobody shows up at the government's bond sales but the government itself. That's the day the government looks to its citizens' wealth with covetous larceny in its heart.

Then you'll truly find out how much government believes it is "of the People, by the People, for the People."

I was traveling through the southeast for my business this past wk. I stopped overnight in Johnson City TN before I headed to Virginia. I met some business partners of mine to discuss growth & numbers at a restaurant/bar. Granted our conversation inevitably moved towards the realities of our market place & current economic state of the nation & the world. In the midst of this conversation, a strong, early 30's black man approaches me & asks me if I'm in the military(he was wearing his dogs tags) I said no but I come from a military family. He then asked what I know. I responded with what do you mean? He then began to aggressive. He pulls out his military ID & says we can't talk at the table come outside. (I come from a military family & have been around some very influential people in my time & you &I both know what's coming)

When we got outside his first question to me was are you Russian?! I'm not I said no. Than he kept saying don't lie to me! You look just like them! You know more than you're saying!

After i shared with him what I know about money, powers at be, & the times we live in he than asks "who's side are you on?" I'm an American, I know this country is toast but I'll stand by my fellow Americans. He then asked again who's side are you on? I had to ask what do you mean? He then lifts his sleeve & shows his tattoo on his arm, which is a text/quote out of the Quran.. He then looks at me & says plainly, 'I will not shoot an American citizen, until the EVENTS. If we see each other again when this takes place and I know which side you are on. (I'm a Christian!) I asked why did it matter if I'm Russian? He said 'they know, & we (radical Muslims) know it's soon', we talk. (I also know there's a large population of Russians in the Smokey Mountain areas & Appalachian/BlueRidge)

How to Keep Hackers Out of Your Bank
Every week we seem to hear about another well-known brand losing private customer data to mysterious hackers. The latest headlines informed us that intruders had captured information on 76 million U.S. households from JPMorgan Chase (JPM).

JPMorgan claimed it only lost names and addresses, not financial information. Officials also stressed that the intruders did not gain access to bank accounts and no one lost any money. Unnamed sources say the attack was sophisticated and may have been a Russian reprisal for economic sanctions.

Journalists should pursue those interesting angles, but I have a more fundamental question.

Why do 76 MILLION American households have JPMorgan Chase bank accounts?

The U.S. Census Bureau pegs the total number of American households at 115 million. That means 66 percent of us use this one institution. JPMorgan may not be your primary bank, but you probably have a credit card or some other attachment to them.

The banking industry is waving all manner of red flags about the cybersecurity threat. I said months ago this a cleverly disguised grab at taxpayer money. I still think so.

I don't deny that hackers want to get into bank networks. The threat is clear . . . but JPMorgan and the other megabanks make themselves targets by their sheer size. That is the core problem.

Any structural engineer will tell you that constructing a critical system with two-thirds of its load vulnerable to a single point of failure is dangerous. Yet, that's where we are with JPMorgan, along with Bank of America (BAC) and Wells Fargo (WFC).

Look at it from the hackers' point of view. Are the big banks harder targets than the small fry are? Probably so — but the payoff is huge. One successful intrusion and you're set for life. Therefore, hackers gang up on the big banks and mostly ignore the small ones.

The systemic solution is to make sure no single bank holds such a huge proportion of the American public's money.

If this sounds like government intrusion on private business, you've been listening to banker propaganda. Modern banks are not "capitalist" in any sense of the word. They are creatures of a state-protected cartel that could not exist in a truly free market economy.

The top few "too big to fail" banks are also "too big to protect" from cyberattacks. We would go a long way toward solving the problem if we simply restored the competitive balance that prevailed before 2008.

Don't hold your breath for Washington to do this. Wall Street owns both sides of the aisle, on both sides of Capitol Hill. That's why the next crisis will be far worse than the last one was.

You have alternatives, though. Simply do your banking with a locally owned community bank or credit union. You will probably get better service and higher interest rates.

Even better, hackers won't have you in their bull's-eye.
