China steps up Panama Papers censorship after leaders' relatives named
The Guardian - Chinese censors have stepped up their censorship of websites, ordering all content related to the Panama Papers to be scrubbed as new revelations emerged of how relatives of some of the country’s top leaders had used secretive offshore companies to store their wealth. Documents from the leaked Mossack Fonseca database showed the relations of three of the seven members of the Communist party’s elite ruling council, the politburo standing committee, had companies that were clients of the offshore law firm. They included relatives of Chinese president Xi Jinping.

The 10th Amendment Center - Today, an Arizona House committee unanimously passed a bill that would help “legalize the Constitution” by defining gold and silver as legal tender and encouraging their use as currency. Sen. David C. Farnsworth and Rep. Doug Coleman, along with seven cosponsors, introduced Senate Bill 1141 (SB1141) on Jan. 19. The legislation defines constitutional legal tender to establish gold and silver coin for use in the marketplace as currency. It reads, in part, “Legal tender and specie are money and are not subject to regulation as property other than money – meaning it would not be taxed at the state level. On Thursday, the House Rules Committee deemed SB1141 “constitutional and in proper form” and passed it by a 7-0 vote.
Brandon Turbeville - On April 6, 2016 country music legend Merle Haggard passed away at the age of 79. Haggard was one of the most legendary country music performers and artists in the music industry with more than 36 number one country hits to his credit. Haggard’s career was more than that of a typical country performer. His songs touched a chord with the working man, the down and out and the outsider in a way that few artists could ever hope to do.... Haggard died on his 79th birthday, a prediction he made a week prior to his death of complications from pneumonia.

Activist Post - In a devastating blow to its megabank creditors, Puerto Rico’s Legislature approved a bill on Wednesday that suspended the US territory’s debt payments until at least January 2017. Since 2000, Wall Street has conned the Puerto Rican government into a massive black hole of debt. After Puerto Rico handed them control of their federal bond sales, Wall Street executives tacked on hundreds of millions in fees for their “services,” greasing the skids for the island’s financial dismay. Along with suspending debt payments, the legislation suspended payment on all general obligation bonds which happen to be guaranteed by the island’s constitution.
(Auto Blog) FCA will indefinitely lay off a total of 1,420 workers from its Sterling Heights Assembly and Stamping plants on July 5, according to The Detroit News. This decision will cut a 1,300-person shift that builds the Chrysler 200, and it will also affect 120 people who stamp the sedan’s components. The company’s statement said the decision would “better align production with demand.” FCA plans to give these folks open full-time positions as they become available. Chrysler 200 sales are down 63 percent to just under 18,000 units so far in 2016.
Activist Post - Are you familiar with Tax Freedom Day? No, it isn’t the day after April 15th. According to the Tax Foundation, it’s the day of the year when the average American has earned enough money to pay for all the income taxes they will accumulate throughout the rest of the year. In 2016, that day will fall on April 24th. Or put another way, if you work during all 52 weeks of the year, more than 16 weeks of your labor are going to the IRS. According to the Tax Foundation’s annual report, Americans are going to spend a total of $5 trillion on federal, state, and local taxes this year, which amounts to about 31% of our nation’s income. That’s almost $1 trillion more than we spend on food, clothing, and housing put together.
Breitbart - Bitter cold across the eastern U.S., caused by Arctic air and a rapidly weakening El Niño weather condition, threatens widespread damage to crops that could ignite a new round of food inflation.... According to the Penn State Fruit Tree Production Guide, a 90 percent kill of apples, cherries and peaches can occur with temperatures of about 25 Fahrenheit for 30 minutes or more during this time of year. This year’s combination of a very mild winter, above-average temperatures during March, and the most recent bout of below-freezing temperatures is believed to have already caused substantial damage to eastern fruit crops.... Mid-Atlantic grape growers are already utilizing wind machines and bonfires to prevent the cold waves from killing their vines. But many worry that next week’s freezing temperatures could overwhelm their efforts and cause widespread crop loss.
Natural Society - Biotech giant Monsanto reported multiple profit-plummets in 2015 relating to sales for both its genetically modified crop creations and its best-selling herbicide, Roundup. Once again, Monsanto has reported declining profits for the fiscal second-quarter earnings – by 25%. For Monsanto’s 2nd quarter, total sales for Monsanto dropped 13%; with one of Monsanto’s top-sellers, corn seeds, falling 11%.... With organic food sales having approached $37 billion annually, up 12% from just a year ago, and farmers switching to organic crops at a growing rate, the future of food actually has a nice glow to it. The masses are seeing just how toxic our current approach to agriculture can really be, and we simply do not want it anymore.
Off the Grid News - One of the Northeast’s most powerful politicians is fighting hard to make sure the selling of homemade baked goods is a crime in the Garden State. New Jersey State Senator Joe Vitale (D-Woodbridge) has used his position as chairman of the Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee to block a bill that would make it legal to sell baked goods — cookies, pies and cakes — made at home. The reason: He wants to protect businesses that sell baked products. “They’re concerned at some level of being undermined by these home-baked products,” Vitale said in a statement to the Associated Press. “If the cap is $50,000, that’s potentially $50,000 or some portion that’s out of the bottom line of a small baker.” Others, though, say the law needs to be overturned. State Senator Christopher Bateman (R-Neshanic Station) has introduced a bill that would allow the selling of baked goods.... New Jersey is one of two states in which it is illegal to sell home baked goods. The other is Wisconsin, where the Institute for Justice is challenging a similar ban on baking in court.
